EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) offers you a gentle, safe way to free yourself from the effects of trauma, anxiety, phobias, unwanted habits and even issues such as dyslexia and food intolerance.

So What is EFT?

EFT-HertfordshireOften referred to as “psychological acupressure”, the technique works by gently tapping with the fingers on particular points on the head and upper body while focussing on the issue which brings about emotional intensity and discomfort.

These emotional issues often lead to limiting beliefs, behaviours and struggle.

 

Resulting symptoms are either emotional and/ or physical and include lack of confidence and self esteem, feeling stuck, anxious, depressed or phobic, or the emergence of compulsive and addictive behaviours.

It is also now widely accepted that emotional disharmony is a key factor in physical symptoms and disease as well and for this reason these techniques are being extensively used on physical issues, including chronic illness or physical pain.

The techniques are gradually being accepted in medical and psychiatric circles as well as in the range of psychotherapies and healing disciplines.

An EFT treatment session is non-invasive and works with the ethos of making change as simple and as pain free as possible, “creeping up” on issues rather than having to face the full intensity of the emotional source.

How it works…

The latest research shows that EFT probably works because electrical impulses to the brain generated by the tapping, calm or counteract the fear responses in the amygdala (a primitive part of the brain) which have been triggered by the focus on the issue causing a problem.

Following tapping, subsequent focus on that issue does not then trigger the fear response.
